This two day workshop is designed for teachers to explore the latest technology tools and solutions available to help schools build 21st Century Learning Environments that motivate and engage today’s students. The workshop will provide multiple examples of media-rich projects, and investigate the new Web 2.0 world of creating personal learning environments for students. This workshop will explore specific ways in creating a Personal Learning Environment for the educational enhancement in everyday learning and how PLE's are fast to becoming central to future learning.
Participants will learn how changing technologies are key drivers in exploring ways to develop a method that helps learners take control of and manage their own learning. This includes providing support for learners to set their own learning goals, manage their learning, manage both content and process, and how to effectively communicate with others within a social learning network.
In this two day workshop Mike King and Jesse West will provide ways to integrate today's emerging information systems, through the development of a thematic concept, using strategies for content production, publishing, accessing information, re-mixing and re-published content within a Personal Learning Environment. Tools discussed will include, symbaloo assignment bookmarking functions, posting to Glogster, creating forms within Google Docs, remixing of content through digital media, and the use of social networking resources such as Timeline, Animoto, Volki, Vimeo, Prezi, AuthorStream, LiveBinders, PBWorks.
